Details

Capitello is the Italian word for capital, used in an architectural sense, like the capital of a column on a classical building.  The capital sits on top of the column, where it supports and joins the structure above.  The shape of this pot, with its wide rim, curvy body and pedestal foot reminded me of the capital atop a Roman column.
