Details

This rim style traces its roots to potters working around Galena, Illinois, and southwestern Wisconsin in the 1860s. Many were immigrants from Cornwall, England, whose tradition of ornamented flowerpot rims became a decorative hallmark of the pottery from the region

Attached saucer pots like these were common throughout the 19th century, from the mid-Atlantic states to the upper Midwest. The Galena rim added a touch of artistry to what was otherwise utilitarian ware.

Our modern version is made of high-fired, fully vitrified stoneware. Use with care when watering—too much may cause the attached saucer to overflow and mar the surface beneath.

  • Hand thrown in Rockdale, Wisconsin.
  • Fired to 2300° F
  • Fully vitrified stoneware that will not leak when watered.
  • Since each pot is made by hand, variations in size and color are to be expected.
  • Price Includes UPS or USPS shipping to the Continental USA.

Care Guide
Suitable for indoor or outdoor use. Made of fully vitrified stoneware that holds water without leaking. Take care when watering—overflow from the attached saucer may mar the surface beneath. If used outdoors, avoid allowing water to collect inside the pot before freezing weather. Ice expansion can cause cracking, even in vitrified stoneware.
