Handthrown in Rockdale, Wisconsin
Why white clay for garden pots?
White clay garden pots offer a more formal and elegant home for your flowering plants than their more common red terra cotta cousins. For the holiday season, poinsettias in white clay pots make a stunning display. White clay also shows a patina of age more quickly than red terra cotta, with the surface color mellowing and softening with each season it spends holding your planting.
White clay garden pots are hand thrown here in my Rockdale, Wisconsin studio. My inspiration comes from early American potters, especially from Wisconsin potters who immigrated from Cornwall, England in the 1850's, as well as the terra cotta made for country gardens in England, France, Italy and Greece.
