Handthrown in Honduras
I designed the Wakefield Handmade line for the wholesale market and it is sold and distributed to retail stores by Napa Home & Garden. My designs are a blend of styles I've been doing for years in my own studio, with tidbits of inspiration from 19th century pots from England and America.
I'm working with an extremely talented group of potters in Honduras to make the large volume of production needed to supply stores all over the U.S. These are the same guys I introduced my friend Guy Wolff to in 1998, and who made a large part of the Guy Wolff wholesale line for Smith & Hawken from 1998 to 2006.
These pots are sturdy terra cotta, handthrown on the potter's wheel, one at a time. After firing, each is finished by hand, using a range of faux finish techniques that are not possible with ceramic glazes. The finishes are designed to accentuate the form of the pot and to compliment the natural beauty of your planting. These pots are well suited for indoor or outdoor use but should be taken inside before the weather dips below freezing.
